I currently live in West Virginia. I have two daughters, 9 and 6 yrs. I teach 3rd grade at the small elementary school that they attend.
In my spare time, I enjoy music, reading, shopping and spending time with family and friends.
Shortly before the birth of my youngest daughter, I started becoming interested in cooking, with great thanks to this site. I love trying new things. I used to collect cookbooks, and I still have quite a few, but since I've been a member of food.com, I have to admit that I don't use them much anymore. This is so much easier!
In addition to cooking, I enjoy spending time with my girls, reading, and shopping. I'm also a big Virginia Tech fan, hence my user name. It's where I went to school, so my loyalty lives on!
I love all kinds of foods--Chinese, Italian, American, and I love trying new things I haven't had before. I don't really have one favorite restaurant, but P.F. Chang's, The Melting Pot, The Cheesecake Factory and Cucci's (a hometown Italian fave) rank up there among the top.
I like to hunt for new recipes to try and often share recipes with family. One of my favorite things to cook (and what my friends and family often ask for) is my spinach and artichoke dip, a replica of the Olive Garden Recipe. I also really enjoy trying new appetizers for holidays and family get-togethers.
