I taught myself to cook during a 3-year stint of unemployment starting with the 2008 recession, mostly by watching Alton Brown's excellent show Good Eats. Since then I've cooked any recipe I've come across that looked appealing, and explored individual cuisines I've always wanted to eat at home. I favor Indian and Asian food, as well as hearty winter-time dishes.
