    Reviewed Latkes (Potato Pancakes)

"My German family call these potato pancakes Kartoffelpuffer. I love them and when my daughter and I went to a German restaurant in Denver, CO, I recommended she order this and she really ranted and raved over them. You can top them with either applesauce or sour cream. My late husband poured catsup over his and my poor Aunt. She was horrified!..."

"The first time I tasted one of them, I became hopelessly addicted! The ones I had were stuffed with whole almonds. Like Lay's potato chips, you can't just have one!"

New Topic Why is the spaghetti sauce so sweet? in Cooking Q & A

"I have made meatless spaghetti sauce from scratch and I use fresh vegs such as fresh onions, tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms, zucchini and carrots plus italian seasonings and I like mine chunky. When they are being simmered, I add some dry red wine for flavor. Many people who have eaten my sauce like them but one person said it is too sweet and she ..."

    About Me

I live in California. I am a sub teacher at a deaf school in Fremont, CA. I am a widow. I have a daughter who is a college student.

My love for cooking started with my grandma then with my friends' mothers who graciously let me watch and help in their kitchens. As a teenager and young woman, I have gone thru many trials and errors in creating new dishes. Now I have a few dishes that are my "signature". I am not afraid to try different food, especially the ethnic ones.

Aside cooking, I love to read a lot and have an extended "library" in my bedroom. I also enjoy sewing and making quilts.

    Favorite Foods

Mexican, Chinese, German, American vintage, Jewish, Greek, etc...in other words, food!
