"These were very easy to make, and really cheap (at 87 cents for Duncan Hines cake mix, but the cookies were just okay. Maybe because of the powdered sugar coating, the sweetness overpowered the chocolate flavor. I agree that chocolate chips, nuts, or chopped bittersweet chocolate might improve these. "This is a good recipe, although to make 3 cups of gravy, my grandma would say you should use 6 tablespoons of the fat, and 6 tablespoons of flour. To dress it up "for company," substitute a can of evaporated milk for a cup of the milk."

"I loved the idea of this recipe: cake with a layer of bananas on the outside, under a layer of caramel. However, I think the quantities are off on this recipe. The batter was really thick (like cookie dough before I folded in the egg whites, and even that did not lighten it up very much. After 35 minutes of baking, the cake resembled soup."
