    About Me

Married to my sweetheart for almost forty years and we have two wonderful children who are grown and have flown the coop. Also, we have been blessed with a wonderful son-in-law and beautiful daughter-in-law, two beautiful granddaughters ages five and eight, two sweet adorable little grandsons ages 2 and almost 2, and a fifth grandchild on the way (due August 2014).

My husband and I share a combination of English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Dutch, Swiss, Polish, Austrian, German and French heritage, and our son-in-law and daughter-in-law are both Hispanic. We've traveled extensively to many countries abroad (we lived in Germany), and have traveled and lived in several states here in the U.S.A.

Many of the recipes I post here are influenced by our combined heritage or from our travels, or they are old family favorites that I want to share with you. I hope you enjoy! Have been to culinary school with many years of cooking (mostly for my family) under my belt, so know my way around a kitchen. And I'm very lucky to have the best sous chef in the world, dddddh!

My favorite chef of all time is Jacques Pepin! I have several of his cookbooks, and enjoy watching his television cooking show Fast Food My Way. Another top favorite is Julia Child (of course!). A few other chefs I read/enjoy watching on t.v. are: Giada At Home, Ina Garten's The Barefoot Contessa, Nigella Lawson's Nigella Bites, and Patti's Mexican Kitchen. On my bucket list is dining at Thomas Keller's establishment The French Laundry in Napa Valley, California... as well as Alice Waters' Chez Panisse in Berkeley, and the James Beard award winning Tartine Bakery and Cafe in San Francisco. One day!!

Hobbies/Interests: Decorating with fresh flowers and herbs from the garden is my passion, and brings me deep joy! It's really hard to beat!! I love connecting with others who enjoy the same. Gardening, decorating, sewing, music, dancing, film, and reading are also up there. Spending quality time with my grandchildren, family, and friends (and cooking holiday meals!). And last but certainly not least, I absolutely LOVE cats--we have two half-Siamese fur babies (cats) that allow us to live here!!

    A Note of Thanks~

I try to personally thank everyone who kindly makes and reviews my recipes, but sometimes I am busy, late, or may forget. Please know that I am always humbled that you would try one of my recipes, and I enjoy reading the reviews and seeing all the pretty photographs. Thanks so much!

    Favorite Foods

I like a wide range of cuisines both simple and elegant, and try to eat healthy (but not always!). Am constantly broadening my horizons and am game to try something new, as long as as it doesn't eat me first, lol!

Some of my favorites right now are: cuppa coffee and teas and tisanes of all sorts, a great margarita, a fine champagne, cognac, a good wine, appetizers, fine & elegant cuisines to include filet mignon, seafood & fish, especially King snow crab, Maine lobster tail, Ahi, mahi mahi, yellowtail, halibut, clams and mussels, jumbo prawns and sea scallops, fresh lake trout, cod, sole, and salmon, as well as down home barbecue, SIMPLE quick and delicious casseroles, SLOW crock-pot cooking, omelettes, stir-fry, hand-made tamales, real Italian lasagna oozing with deep layers of melted cheeses and meaty tomato sauce, TRADITIONAL holiday and COMFORT foods such as roast beef, ham or turkey, fresh cranberry sauce, home-made stuffing, real mashed potatoes with home-made gravy, & chicken fried steak, holiday sweets, old-time FAMILY favorites such as German Meatballs in creamy caper sauce, Sauerbraten, Rouladen, Rotkohl, Country Green Beans with bacon & onions, simple boiled new potatos with snipped fresh parsley, my potato salad, & Dad's Apple Pie, fresh SEASONAL produce from the farmer's market or my own backyard, simple FRESH salads dressed with herbed lemon vinaigrette or honey dijon dressing, rustic country breads, real butter, cheese: cream cheese, cheddar, bleu or roquefort, rich brie or camembert Delice de France, German Tilsiter or Butterkaese to nibble on, brandy & dark rum with freshly ground nutmeg in my holiday eggnog, lemony foods, drinks & desserts, herbes de Provence, strawberries, apricots, almonds, hazelnuts, dark chocolate, vanilla, whipped cream and cheesecake!

I JUST LOVE THIS POEM AND HAD TO SHARE IT!

    *Change is Inedible*
I didn`t have potatoes, so I used rice.
I didn`t have paprika, so I used another spice.
I didn`t have tomatoes, so I used paste.
A whole can not a half can, I don`t believe in waste.
A friend gave me this recipe; she said you couldn`t beat it!
There must be something wrong with her
    -I couldn`t even eat IT!

In all fairness, I will not downgrade a recipe if I have not followed it true to form, and I'd appreciate the same in return.

Thank you for visiting my AM page, and thank you all for the nice reviews and gorgeous photographs posted to my recipes!
