    Pesronal stuff: I'm 41, single dad with two wonderful girls. Just starting a new job after a period of unemployment that was by turns really fun and extremely terrifying. Aside from being a passionate cook I also enjoy gardening, playing guitar, reading, and writing.

    Favorite Foods

    I have been cooking since childhood with my mother and various assorted members of my huge family.I'm now divided by about six hours but cooking for holidays and get-togethers when they occur is great fun. I am currently interested in central and eastern European cuisine; about 15 years ago I got my first serious cookbook (Marcella Hazan's first) and began a strong love affair with Italian cuisine and culture that slowly broadened to encompass the entire Mediterannean: Greek, Middle Eastern, North African. I enjoy eating Asian food but rarely make it myself. I am now going back to my ethnic roots (maybe its kids?!), making more traditional food from my German, Irish, Slovak roots.
