I live in Adelaide, South Australia and work in accounting and payroll. I'm actually about to start a brand new job with an airline which I am super excited about. I live with my bf and brother and enjoy doing all the cooking in our home. I luckily get out of doing the clearing up! (most of the time)
I collect old cookbooks. I have many from the 60's and 70's (and one special LIONS Brand cookbook from 30's) and love to compare the differences in entertaining to what is common place now. Some of the tried and true recipes in these cookbooks are priceless
I am completely addicted to meal planning and although I do not always know what I will be making on a particular day I love to be prepared enough to know there is a week or more of options in the house.
I'm currently on the look out for the perfect meatloaf. My mum made a great one which I haven't perfectly duplicated yet. Working on it though.
It was free form not in a pan and basted with a bbq sauce that I swear she once said had coffee in it???
If anyone has any ideas send me a msg.
*** I think I have this worked out and have posted so that I can keep it safe. Sorry all I realise there are thousands of meatloaf recipes out there already.
I would be hard pressed to choose any favorite. I am obsessed with all food, (soft spot for savoury salty though) when I am not thinking about food I am shopping for it or preparing it or cooking and serving it.
My ultimate comfort food when I'm feeling low is mashed vegies. I just mix a whole lot of smashed orange veg with some mashed potato and any other left over steamed veg in the house. Put a heap of butter, salt n pepper and I'm in heaven. WEIRD I know.
I'm particulary interested in Thai food at the moment and if take away is the order of the day I almost never go past my local chinese delivery. Although bought spring rolls and never as good as the ones made at home.
My favorite foods change with my mood but I'm sure a lot of you know what I mean.
I love cheese (All cheese!), bread and smoked salmon. Carbs carbs carbs, love potatoes, asian noodles and pasta. Can't get enough of fish or chicken. Very Partial to a bbq'd sausage in bread with some ketchup and grilled onions (even if they give me heartburn lol).
I crave things that I havent had in a while like cabbage rolls or sheppards pie often.
Only food I am not a massive fan of are what we call squash here in Australia. They are a little yellow vegetable that I remember not liking as a kid and have never had since. I'm a little bit of a baby when it comes to spicy (hot) foods but I am working on it and can now eat things with what I would call medium heat.
