    About Me

I live in the Northern Suburbs of Brisbane a short drive from the nearest boat launching ramp! Yes, my partner made the mistake of teaching me to fish. I found this website hunting for a slightly different way to prepare the latest catch and here I am.
I work for a large Pathology company which keeps me busy when I'm not cooking, attempting to create a vegie garden in our new home, quilting or reading or of course out in our little boat fishing.
Have just added a wonderful book to my kitchen shelf "Portuguese Homestyle Cooking" by Ana Patueleia Ortins. I highly recommend both the reading and the recipes. As a 'new' Australian I have to say THE cookery book that is a 'must have' if you haven't already discovered it, is "Stephanie's Menus for Food Lovers" by renowned Australian Chef Stephanie Alexander... but now I've found Recipezaar!

    Favorite Foods

How to describe my favourite foods..... So difficult. I love to cook, and I love to try new recipes as both my waistline and the scales will attest. (My latest experiments with foods are all following the Weight Watchers guidelines.) I recently was re-introduced to Japanese Cuisine and I have fallen in love with a range of dishes that are tasty, appealing to the eye and don't take too long to prepare as I work long hours. Shabu Shabu in particular is a wonderful meal when entertaining a few friends, a leisurely conversation filled evening is guaranteed while it is also a gastronomic delight. The gorgeous seaweed based foods are endless though sometimes tracking down the ingredients is difficult.
I have a savoury tooth, so don't make many sweet things but will share those few I can't live without. Lemon Meringue Pie, Malt Loaf, Strawberry Marshmallow Shortcake, Anzac Biscuits and Apple Doughnuts.
Dining in my favourite restaurant currently is a extremely crowded bustling experience that is worth the drive down to the Riverfront. 'El Centro' is Italian to its soul and serves the most mouthwatering dishes with a huge range of wines to complement them.
I love spicy dishes, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, French, Turkish,Thai and Greek in particular, but have to tone down for the rest of the family.
