I love my computer...have withdrawl if I'm away for more than a few hours...HOWEVER...I am getting older and wiser...I don't NEED my computer. I need a roof over my head and food for my belly. My husband and I are embarking on an adventure that will take us back in time. Off the grid and countryfied. We are going to live off the land and get back to basics. Give me a hot fire and I can still cook. No more prefab food filled with preservatives. I'm tired of eating chemicals, no matter how good they make them taste. There is nothing like going to the garden that you have grown and picking that tomato right off the vine and biting into it. Wish us luck. I'm not worried. Simple, hard working, easy going. No bull, no excuses.
I love to cook just about everything. Simple, yet delicious. You'll not find many dishes in my cookbook that you can't pronounce. I use real butter and will not apologize for it. I deep fry in Canola Oil but I still deep fry once a week. I like my beef rare and my coffee black. I experiment a lot, using ingredients on hand; sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not. My husband's tastes lean toward the hot side...however as much as I love the hot stuff it tends to have an adverse reaction on my body, so I try to find a happy medium were there is a little heat, but not so much that I have a sleepless night. He's still married to me, so I must be doing something right! He raves about my cooking and friends that visit now have "requests" in advance of coming. Staples in my house...Beef, Chicken, Pork...Rice, Pasta, Potatoes...Green Beans, Peas, Corn, Carrots...Flour, Vinegar, Olive Oil, Canola Oil, Butter, Milk, Cheese, Eggs, Sour Cream,Yeast, Baking Soda,...Cilantro, Oregano, Basil, Thyme, Rosemary, Cumin, Cloves, Cayenne, Paprika, GARLIC, onion, celery, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce. If I can't pronounce it, I probably won't like it. Creme Brulee is my favorite desert. Pot roast is my favorite meal, although Prime Rib runs a very close 2nd to that. Simple, basic and flavorful. I LOVE the taste of beef, so why would I try to hide it? Cooking is about enhancing the flavors, not overpowering them. When we put a Prime Rib Roast on the rotisserie the whole neighborhood starts drooling! WHOOOOEEEEE!
