I learned to cook by watching my German mother cook, & I think my mother is a wonderful cook, but I am better. I love to cook, and now like to use fresh herbs whenever I can, I like to take recipes and use what I like and leave out what I don't, like hot spices like chilies, my stomach cannot take the hot stuff. I have Crohn's Disease and at times am unable to eat, and I loose weight easily, so when I can eat I eat whatever I want and do not do anything diet. I am currently trying to gain weight due to a recent weight loss of almost 30 pounds, & I was only 120 pounds to begin with, so now I am very thin and gaining weight is just as hard as loosing it. Due to the Crohn's I have a built in weight loss mechanism, so gaining weight is my priority, kind of fun to be able to eat all the fattening things I want to eat. I will be sharing some of my recipes from my mother that I have changed a bit, and also some of the ones I have come up with myself, of course there is nothing low fat or calories with what I make, so if on a diet, you can change what you like, but I don't guarantee any results with diet changes. I hope you will enjoy the recipes I submit, as soon as I feel better to submit them. I am currently battleing another flare up.
I am a meat and potatoes gal, and I just love gravy, and make gravy with my roasts or anything that can be used to make gravy for mashed potatoes or rice. I make a very good from scratch spagetti sauce, using fresh herbs anywhere I can. I also use a pressure cooker for pot roast with veggies and potatoes, and of course a great gravy to go over everthing, and with the pressure cooker its a one pot meal and is done quickly but all the flavor cooks into the juices to make the base for the gravy. I don't eat out very often because I can usually make it at home better, and with me suffering from Crohn's Disease, going out to eat can be a major ordeal. I also do not like fast food as something in the way they cook it upsets my stomach so cooking at home, everything from scratch, is the way to go, plus it is much better for you even if the food is not diet friendly. The one place that I go for take out some times is White Fence Farm, I just love thier cole slaw, it is the only cole slaw that I like, and will eat. The only other restaurant that I have delivered is Mike's Famous Pizza, It is my favorite pizza place and the only pizza I will now eat, I don't go anywhere else for pizza. For desserts I think Marie Callenders Pies are the best pies in the world, and would gladly pay whatever they charge, because thier pies are the best around, if you haven't tried them you definately should.

"I don't care for Hamburger Helper, but I liked the idea, and when Progresso came out with the New Recipe Starters I created this recipe using the Portabello Mushroom Flavor, it is very creamy and leftovers heat up very well. My husband loves this dish and he likes to add some extra chopped raw onions to his. This is a great original dish created ..."
