I've been married for many years to a great guy, who's also my best friend. We have 4 grown kids and 3 grandchildren. I love being a grandma and watching my oldest grandchild in the kitchen. He's in high school and is an awesome cook! He'll make a great 'catch' for some lucky young lady someday!
We all love home-cooked food, not prepackaged, heat-it-up kind of stuff, but foods we can grow, clean and prepare from scratch.
'Home-baked' and 'homemade' are two very different meanings. Anyone can bring home a frozen pie and put it in the oven, but not everyone can, or will, bring many different ingredients together to make a truly 'homemade' treat! We do!
It's been challenging, but we enjoy finding ways to make our old standards into healthier versions that we still love.
One of my biggest pet peeves is to read ratings of recipes, especially negative ones, where the author has made changes to the original recipe, then gives it a negative revue. If you're going to honestly rate that recipe, then make it as the original recipe is written. When you change even one thing, it is no longer that same recipe. Be fair in all ratings.
My favorite foods are chocolate, pastas, fresh salads and chicken dishes. Being in the heart of the country, I also love beef, but try to keep it to a minimum, because of all of us trying to watch our cholestrol.
I love to bake pies and cookies and my mac and cheese is 'legendary'!
My favorite restaurant is one with NO tv's and freshly made dishes. Lingering over dinner with good conversation is great! I eat very s-l-o-w-l-y, so I'm always the last one at the table! I get teased a lot, but seldom take seconds, like some others that eat really fast. So that's good, right?
