I AM 81 YEARS OLD AND I STILL LOVE TO COOK, ALTHOUGH I NO LONGER CAN STAND AND COOK ALL DAY!! I BEGAN COOKING AT AROUND 13 AND HAVE BEEN AT IT EVER SINCE. I HAVE 5 CHILDREN. MY HUSBAND PASSED ABOUT 18 YEARS AGO, I COOKED FOR THEM AND IN 1973 I WENT TO WORK IN A HOSPITAL KITCHEN WHERE WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WERE TO TREAT THE PATIENTS AS THOUGH THEY WERE GUESTS IN OUR HOME AND TO COOK ACCORDINGLY SO THE "YUCK, HOSPITAL FOOD" WAS NOT A FACTOR THERE. STARTED AS A DISHWASHER, DID ALL OF THE OTHER JOBS AS WELL AS COOKING AND WORKED MY WAY UP TO THE KITCHEN SUPERVISOR. WORKED THERE 20 YEARS.. AFTER "RETIRING" AND MOVING FROM SONOMA, CA(TRULY GOD'S COUNTRY) TO PHOENIX, AZ(TRULY THE DEVIL'S COUNTRY) I WENT TO WORK IN A SCHOOL CAFTERIA. RE-RETIRED AFTER 14 YEARS THERE AT THE AGE OF 77.
