    About Me

I am a mother of three girls and my husband and I are both self employed. I work from home doing payroll and other bookkeeping duties for his construction company. I also operate a licensed daycare and love to plan meals for the kids and my family. I love being a stay at home/work from home mom and feel it is my duty to provide a good meal to my hard working husband who provides the bulk of our income. I feel that food is the ultimate love you can provide for your family and I try to make every meal special. I love any cookbook that provides pictures of the recipe you are cooking, but I tend to get most of my recipes online when I already know what I want to make because they are easy to find and I don't have to spend hours searching for what it is I have in mind. I use my picture cookbooks more for dinner planning and meal ideas. I joined this site when I found a recipe for baked mac/cheese that I liked and would enjoy getting more meal planning ideas. I tend to "get tired of food" and often find myself saying that nothing sounds good! I just need more variety!!

    Favorite Foods

My favorite foods are southern comfort foods probably because I was raised in a southern influenced home (in Michigan but my dad is from Alabama and did a lot of cooking when I was young) so I had the best of both worlds! Fried chicken, okra, black eyed peas, rice and tomato gravy, corn bread, and sweet tea is my favorite all time meal and most requested by my family. I also enjoy mexican, italian, chinese and other cultural foods, but I typically don't prepare cultural favorites because some of the various spices and ingredients aren't conveniently stocked at my grocery store and it's nice to go out once in a while. Also my husband and I have very differnt likes and dislikes. I try to prepare his favorites more than my own (since I work from home and he provides hard labor in his field) which would include traditional roasts with potatoes, carrots, and dinner rolls or meats cooked on the bbq grill with homemade scalloped potatoes and fresh cut green beans or other fresh vegatables always including breads or rolls and often times making a desert (even if it's just cookies or his favorite apple pie with vanilla ice cream).
