I am a retired professor of elementary education. Cooking and collecting cookbooks are my favorite hobbies.
I have many favorite southern U.S.A. cookbooks.
I have always enjoyed dishes that present a challenge. When entertaining, I most often choose new recipes. Then, if they are not so good, I just say "oops, this is a new recipe that I won't try again."That gets one off the hook in a hurry.
My favorite places to eat have been in New Orleans throughout the years. Two of the most memorable dinners were an eleven course dinner at Corrinne Dunbar's and at emeril's at the chef's bar where Emeril cooked and shared tidbits from many, many dishes. Food and Wine was photographing that night for a special article in their magazine. What a night!
