I have a new mission and craft... Right now I am what is called a Emerging Professional Culinary Artist, which means I am still looking for the Y in the road of my life and undecided which path I will take. I love discovery and exploration! This one is so much fun and I don't have tosit in front of and thether to a computer either. I have worked all my adult life in corporate America, almost 40 years... retired from my last position with USA/NASA on Space Shuttle Program. I am a true foodie and I am addicted to collecting cookbooks.... love both. Following my retirement I found myself really focusing on my passion of all things food, attempting lady luck in contests, learning photography. So I went back to college; took a 1-year culinary arts studies program to earn my certification; maintained a 4.0 GPA and even won a small scholarship for my 2nd semester. My mother would have been so proud of me. We were so much a lot and not just in looks, but our passions for cooking and cookbooks and sharing ideas and meals. I was raised to believe that the way to a man's heart was through his stomach... I like that and know it worked. My hubby loves my cooking. I am currently working in a Hotel Kitchen to garner some commercial cooking experience and I have just recently completed my studies required internship. I hope to one day open my own restaurant and serve my tested recipes. I am thrilled by all of this and the path I am taking. Someone once told me that you can do anything you put your mind to do and that if you work hard, it will pay off... I am doing what I want to do and loving every morning I get up and head to the kitchen. It is the hardest job I have ever held.. But then no pain, no gain!
I have 4 children and 8 grandchildren in my blended family. I have Jim my hubby of over 27 years to love and cherish and realize that true love only happens once in a lifetime. I was lucky this time around. I believe in my God and that all things are possible if you try!
Soups, Salads, Sandwiches, Custard desserts, chocolate anything.
I am famous for my gumbo. Many want it and my potato salad. I have made grown men cry over my chicken salad too! But I will cook anything! Since Fall of 2010 and becoming serious about this path, here's a few things I can be proud of:
