    About Me

I've been cooking since I was eight. My Dad taqught me. He said he'd married twice and had to teach both of them how to cook, and he wasn't putting some poor man through that.

All six of my children can cook. My oldest son made me home-made chicken enchiladas for Valentines Day one year. My youngest was so proud when he was finally able to operate the microwave with supervision and instruction from me. They're all good at fractions from doubling cookie recipes while baking with Mom!

I love to bake, but I also love to make complicated dinners. If you come to my house, expect to be fed. It's my way of showing that I care about people.

    Favorite Foods

I love to bake sweets - cakes, pies, rolls, etc. but I also make incredible dinners - Italian, Mexican, Southern, French, Asian, whatever I feel like.

When I don't know how to make something, I will look here, and I will look in my vintage copy of The Joy of Cooking, and I will look in my Better Homes and Gardens cookbook, and I'll usually modify recipes based on principles and proportions from all three. I'm an experimenter, but no one ever shrinks from eating my experiments, so I must be pretty good.

I love cast iron cookware. I wouldn't be without it. I learned to cook with it, and find that it's more reliable and predictable than anything else I've ever tried.
