After the birth of my last child in 2005, I have been a working stay-at-home mom. I've been lucky enough to have continued my career in the legal arena, which I have done for 25 years, and still greatly enjoy.
My life's passion has been cooking, as well as gardening, which I have passed on to my children (just as my mother did me). I find great joy in cooking, which also allows me to experiment, learning/applying cooking techniques, and cooking foods of the world. I've always wanted to own a restaurant, deli, etc. Attending culinary school has always been a dream of mine ~ something I will always look forward too.
I share the preparation of almost every meal with my foody 8 year old daughter, who seems to love cooking as much as I do, and my 5 year old son is following suit. My 19 year old son also loved to cook with me, until soccer, girls, and cars got in the way ;)
My daughter has, from about the age of 3, been able to identify spices by sight and/or smell, has learned how to pick produce, and often times even remembers what cookbook I got a recipe from, when we use one.
I've collected cookbooks for years, and miss the time I once had to just spend an entire afternoon reading recipes, and menu making (with new recipes). My downfall is that I also love to collect vintage and/or rare cooking gadgets, from Aebleskiver pans to lovely old Italian rolling-pins, as well as those quaint glass brunch/tea sets, used back in the day when brunch with your girlfriends was popular.
I am so excited to have learned of Recipezaar many years ago, and have found tons of wonderful recipes here! Thanks to all of you for sharing. I also have several to share, which I hope to post as soon as I actually spend some time here learning the ins-n-outs, i.e., other than reading all the wonderful recipes already here!
