    I live in Northern California. I have 4 birds and a dog.

    I love to check cookbooks out of the library. Many of the cookbooks I own either I've bought or I inherited from my mother. My favorite cookbooks are those that carry a collection of recipes from everyday people like Recipezaar. I love trying new recipes. I feel a magical connection with other great cooks of the world. Thank you all for your contributions!

    Initially, I like trying a recipe the way the cook posted it. However, I also find the tips & suggestions from reviewers very helpful, and often use these pointers as well.  

    I admit I'm not an adventurous cook. My imagination is limited. When suddenly thrown into the kitchen w/o a plan, idea, or recipe..I panic. (yes..sadly I'm one of those cooks who can't function well w/o a recipe).

    I'm drawn to recipes I believe will taste good based on my experience. I'm rarely wrong when I take that route. The 5 star ratings can be helpful, but taste buds vary, so I don't always rely on that. For foods I'm not at all familiar with, I admit it has to have good reviews before I'll try it. I hate wasting food, so I play it safe that way. Every once and awhile I choose a recipe that has never been reviewed. Well, that can be a bit risky, but still fun b/c I get to review it in the end, whether good or not so good.

    I love Recipezaar. I am addicted to this site. If I weren't so busy cooking up repeat performances...I'd probably try more recipes than I have. I applaud all who participate. For me, it's all about having fun in the kitchen & enjoying good food.

    Favorite Foods

    My favorite comfort dish to cook is spaghetti with meat sauce, baked macaroni and cheese, sweet potato pie, quick breads and soup w/ a side of cornbread. 

    Before I was forced to adopt a more restricted diet, I would never turn down an opportunity to try all kinds of foods. My motto being: Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.

    Now I'm leaning more towards vegan/vegetarian dishes. Which isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
