I am 42 years old, single, raised in Texas and I love to cook!!! I have been doing it since I was a child helping my mother and I have been hooked ever since. I learned most of my skills on my own, reading cook books, watching chefs on TV (a lot of that) and most of all trial and error. I have a small library of cookbooks, but I now use Zaar recipes the most.
I have made a lot of friends here on Zaar, hello Zaar friends! If any of ya'll Have AIM or are on AOL, put me in your buddy list and chat with me some time! Same name as on here - Chipfo
My brother and I used to have a barbeque stand many years ago on Lake Palestine, we served all the good stuff - sliced and chopped brisket plates or sanwiches, ribs, smoked chicken, sliced pork, sausage and all the fixins, including potato salad, our famous coleslaw, beans etc. In the picture above I am chopped out and that is my brother - Chad
Below is a veiw of the whole outfit.
I also love to sail, I did a complete restoration on a classic 1969 Westerly Nomad (pictured below), I basically saved her from complete doomI love this boat. I also love my Hobie 18 Magnum, I have won 3 trophies racing the Hobie Cat, from bouy races like the Mid-Americas to long distant races like the Ruff-Riders, a 2 day race starting at S Padre Island ending in Corpus Christi. Below is a picture of me and my brother at one of the races, or as we call them - regattas.
I don't think we placed at this one so we were just showing off for the photographers.
OK, one more picture, below is my Westerly -
I was also Guest Host in the Grilling forum for October 09.
I cook a lot from what is available in house (I keep it stocked) and what I believe will be good, freestyle cooking if you know what I mean, using the knowledge I have gathered through the years. I also do a lot of traditional family recipes and home-style cooking. I like all types of food, to pick one would rebellious to the rest (Mutiny I tell ya!!) I love other people's cooking just as well, or even better than mine. I like almost everything.
Pet peeve: I just don't understand those "extra picky eaters" that (it seems to me) just don't like anything. They don't know what their missing!
My Ratings - You will notice that most all my ratings are 4 and 5 sars. That is because I can pretty much look at a recipe and tell if I will like it. If I do make one that doesn't get at least 4 stars, I understand that it probably was my taste and not the recipe itself. If I don't like cucumbers, I won't make and rate cucumber salad, lol. I think I have rated only 1 - 3 star review.
