Reviewed Rice and Black Beans (Rice Cooker)
"Five stars for how easy it is to make; less than that because it desperately needs more seasoning: dehydrated onion, garlic, cumin and even bay leaf. I used those, but should have used more. Also, my rice was a little mushy. I;ll use a little less liquid next time."

I am a retired computer programmer whose main responsibility now is caring for my husband, boatload of cats and one half-crazed German Shepherd Dog. I started baking for my birth family when I was in my teens, as Mom never did it. Thanks to the Time Life Series on international cooking, I made my first foray into that when I was 13 or 14. I had just had a luau at the home of a friend, and we decided to recreate as much of it as we could at home. Hello eggrolls and haupia! In my current household, it's sometimes a challenge because DH prefers bland beef, while I prefer dishes spicy and as far away from beef as possible. However, that still leaves a lot of territory with some thought and compromise. It all works out. I appreciate RecipeZaar (aka food.com) alot for all the great recipes, new tastes, and fun company.
I.

Things that taste great and are easy to prepare.

They noted that Bahamians usually soak this in lime juice the day before, as well, for a fuller flavor."
