New Topic Help with growing Habanero peppers in Gardening, Herbs, Spices and More
"Hello~ I'm hoping someone will be able to help me figure out what's going wrong with my habanero peppers. I've got 3 beautifull plants, full of peppers. They start out small and green, then when they turn orange or deepen to red, I pick them. Trouble is that 8 out of 10 of them have moldy insides. There is absolutely no visible difference o..."

New Topic Keeping water bath canner in good condition in Canning, Preserving and Dehydrating
"Hello ~ does anyone have any advice on how to keep your water bath canner from getting filmy and rusty? When I process my jars, there is always a white, powdery type residue that's left on them and the inside of the canner - I am assuming cause it's from my tap water (don't want to spend money for distilled water). Saved Recipe Bacon and Chipotle Potato Salad by True Texas
Jul 1, 2010 on Recipezaar
I live just outside of Madison, Wisconsin in the wonderful midwest. The seasons here are great, and the winter offers up some wonderful skiing opportunities. I grew up right here, and am an only child. My mom was (is) a wonderful cook - except for meatloaf... I can't stand the stuff to this day!! She never seemed to work off of recipes, so I don't have much in writing that was passed down to me. I've become somewhat of a 'messy' cook - I throw in things without exact measuring, and I take up all available counter space when I make dinner - no matter how simple it is! My husband and I welcomed our beautiful baby girl in October of 2009. I have a big garden every summer and really enjoy making foods with my fresh, backyard produce!
My favorite food is Italian food. I could eat fettuccine alfredo every day of the week! I also am a huge fan of prime rib. I enjoy trying new dishes, and have just started dabbling in Indian foods. Sometimes I wish I could take a week off of work and just cook new things! Since my daughter was born, I've realized how precious time in the kitchen is. I've begun looking into OAMC and making my own baby food.
