    About Me

I'm a transplanted Texan, at least for now. I long for the Southwest, and love the native food from there. I've been in Omaha since the fall of 1997, I am currently an Educational Assistant for Special Education and have a BA in Art-Painting/Stage. I am a collector of Cookbooks, have a prize collection of favorites, like Luby's 50th and 60th Anniversary Cookbooks, and have always favored The Joy Of Cooking Cookbook. One of my pet peeves is not having the organization or enough space in my kitchen for all the cooking equipment which I love to use.  After being here for 17 years, I have found and become fond of this area's cuisine.

I am retired, as of May 2014, and am getting back in-touch with cooking.

    Favorite Foods

I love to cook Mexican food, Southern Barbeque and varieties of Desserts. I have become proficient at creating enchiladas and those rare Tostadas Compuestas of La Posta. I have learned to make Tiramisu. I make Toffee every Christmas-carrying on a tradition and recipe from my Grandmother. There are so many restaurants I favor that it is hard to pick one. It's true that the way to a Man's heart is through his stomach, yet, it is also a sure fire way to make friends.
