    Reviewed Award-Winning Butter Tarts

"These butter tarts are absolutely delicious. I made them for British visitors as something uniquely Canadian and they were a huge hit. I used Kittencal's No Fail Buttery Flaky Pie/Pastry Crust (#66929)
with a 15 minute bake time (convection). The filling was perfect.
I doubled the recipe, as I knew they would be winners. Thank goodness I di..."

    Reviewed Kittencal's No-Fail Buttery Flaky Pie Pastry/Crust

"Beautiful and flakey, this is my favourite pastry now! I made one batch by food processor and one by hand and both were successful. I had to refrigerate it overnight. I only had all-purpose flour and used lard. I used this pastry for a double batch of Award Winning Butter Tarts and everything was simply delicious. Lovely pastry."

Reviewed Crock Pot Chicken W/ Black Beans and Cream Cheese...yum!

"In fairness to the original recipe, the ingredients I had on hand (and I really, really wanted to make this), were 'close', but I had to adapt it somewhat, due to MY pantry ingredients on hand. It still turned out simply delicious and hubby and I loved it. I had 3 good sized chicken breasts which I defrosted in the microwave, pan seared to almost c..."

    Reviewed Pancakes

"I made these pancakes for lunch today and they were absolutely delicious. I used butter versus margarine, as a personal choice, and added a splotch of vanilla. What a nice lunch this recipe made, topped with a pat of butter and 100% Maple syrup. I'm going to prepare ziploc bags of the dry ingredients for ease when we go camping, as it is so simple ..."

    About Me

I have counted on my numerous cookbooks throughout the years, but RecipeZaar is so much easier. I now feel sorry for that wonderful collection of books, as I don't refer to them as much now, but I will always keep them, as they are important to me.

I live on the Canadian Prairies and love to cook. I have always been a recipe saver and love the family reaction of a very well-cooked meal.

I love regional dishes and the tried and true recipes that come from our ancestors and people we trust.

    Favorite Foods

    Saucy foods...
    Cheese...
    Ooey - Gooey foods
Basically food that tends to drift toward the hips.

I tend to love more savoury food than sweets, but I can handle a fantastic chocolate cake with ice cream sometimes.
