I work full time but still love to garden, mostly flowers and shrubs but also some vegetables. I'm a backyard birder, enticing many varieties to my backyard garden sanctuary. I moved from Ohio to N. Carolina and I think the weather is perfect here, all four seasons. I'm generally only cooking for my husband and myself, but also friends. I enjoy trying new recipes and have even chanced serving them to friends before ever trying them out. So does that make me a risk-taker? I think anyone who cooks learns to experiment and adapt recipes to their likes and dislikes. As a child, I was the pickiest eater. It drove my parents crazy. I never even liked cheese until I lived in France for a year when I was 20 years old. Fortunately, my palate has matured along with me. I've discovered I like somethings more now (like dark chocolate), then I once did, and others not so much. I still dislike mushrooms, and will leave them out of anything I make, much to the chagrin of my mushroom-loving husband.
