    About Me

    Well for the last 12 years I've been in the Air Force working as a Explosive Ordnance Disposal Operator. Long story short; when I deploy I'm attached to diferent Army units and disarm bombs whether they're roadside IED's or booby trapped houses. So in a nutshell... I'm on a Bomb Squad. Stateside my mission varies so much I could go on and on. That part of my life is coming to an end though as I'll be medically retired sometime in 2012 because after my last deployment I have 3 ruptured discs in my back and I can't wear the required gear to deploy anymore.

    For fun most of my time is spent entertaining my son. We like to camp, swim and rough house together. If I do get a night out I enjoy dancing, concerts, prettymuch anything other than watching cartoons. As Carter gets older I hope to get back into snowboarding, hunting, and fishing. Started teaching him to rollerblade at 2.5 so maybe someday he'll be a pro.

    While I was growing up I started helping with making cookies and seemed to have a natural talent for it. As I got older my mom didn't cook much so to avoid eating frozen pizza everynight I slowly taught myself how to cook. At 16 I began working in a catering kitchen and really started learning the basics continuing to progress from there.

    To this day I still seem to have a knack for it and truely enjoy it. Cooking is the one hobby that throughout the years I've always been able to maintain. I cook for my shop of 20-25 people most Fridays and tend to let them decide what they want so I get requests for old favorites, things they miss from home and everything in between. Some of the last things I've made were Seafood Gumbo, Thai Garlic Pork, Chicken Panang, Ribs, Jerk Chicken, and so on.

    I saw that I registered my profile in 2007, but I had been using Zaar for an unknown amount of years before that. I finally ended up registering so I could save recipes and shopping lists. I often think about posting recipes, but I'm the type of cook that doesn't measure anything making it hard to copy a When I make something new I tend to look at a few diferent recipes and combine the best aspects of each of them. I did write down everything last time I made Hummus for the shear fact of posting it here and then lost the paper... pretty typical for me I guess.

    Well I can't say that's me in a nutshell, but maybe a short story.

    Favorite Foods

    My career field is fairly small so i might be considered infamous through it for all my cooking. I've got freinds that tell me they've never liked what I happen to be cooking, but they try it because I made it and of course they like it.

    As I've grown as a cook throughout the years I've disliked chain restaurants more and more. I'm at the point now that I can't stand Applebee's, TGI Fridays, and Chili's. All their food tastes the same :-/ So my favorite places are the hole in the wall joints where nothings frozen. That and Ruths Chris Steakhouse... now more for the ambiance because I've perfected their steak, sweet potato casserole, and I'm working on the Lobster Bisque.

    p.s. I also like Sushi, but can make that at home too :-p
