    About Me

European "mutt": Latvian - Polish - Russian - Swiss - French - German.
Grew up in Germany with lots of company from all corners of the planet; food and drink was always offered when someone came to visit within 5 minutes or less. I love to have company myself and share some good food and cheap wine with friends. :-) I am glad to live in the USA now, even though I have not made the plunge to become naturalized, but that is another story.
I went to school in Germany, Begium, and the Netherlands and would move back to the Netherlands or Belgium in a heartbeat.
Of course, I am multilingual and I worked as an interpreter when I met my American spouse in Germany. We have moved to Virginia as a compromise between too much heat and no seasons in the South and the very cold winters of the North.
I just love the multitude of ethnic foods available here in the USA! I have made many friends from many different cultural backgrounds and have incorporated many of their fascinating cuisines into my repertoire.

    Favorite Foods

Love to improvise and blend different cultures and flavors. Am fond of brown rice, whole grain anything, and FRESH fish. I have a hard time finding really fresh fish in any store. My father used to say that dead fish should never see the moon. Growing up I did not know that fish smelled bad. We always ate it within hours of it being caught and cleaned.
