    About Me

I am a mother of a son and daughter, and I love being with my kids and husband more than anything else except for being with them at church. I enjoy trying to find healthy and tasty meals to make for us. I am trying to become vegetarian for health, because I disagree with the way animals are treated for our mass meat consumption, and to not get the hormones animals are injected with. We are happier, healthier and spend less money on food eating this way, especially since I won't buy or use the processed fake meats and other highly processed faux foods for vegetarians. My husband is happy to eat vegetarian dinners all week except for one day on his weekend when he enjoys grilling.

Since we are Orthodox Christians, we follow certain fasting times during the year were we have restrictions on what and how we eat to have more time to pray and learn discipline from our physical desires. We eat pretty much vegan at this time. I am working to make a rotation of recipes for us.

On a different note, I am pretty crazy about my ragdoll cat named Clover.

I am on a mission currently to find a bunch of good soups, so I have about 5 different cookbooks I am slowly going through. I enjoy trying and rating many recipes here at recipe zaar.I find the reviews here so helpful in determining whether I want to make something or tweak it.

    How I rate recipes:

5 stars = Recipes that are just awesome and might make want to keep eating it. I would make these for company, and they are great as written.

4 stars = These were really liked and may end up in my permanent rotation. Sometimes these need tweaking.

3 stars = These were liked and mostly good, but just not my kind of thing or the families, or too close to another recipe that is much better.

2 stars = These are just edible, but would not make again.

1 star = I don't know if I would give this rating. I have not yet. It would have to turn out bad according to the directions and taste aweful.

    Favorite Foods

My favorite food is pizza, and most things with melted cheese like lasanga etc. I also love americanized mexican food. I am still in search of a salsa that is as good as a local restaurant here in Southern California. I am too crazy about chip and dip. I plan to find some good muffin recipes here too.
