    About Me

I am a "50-something" wife, mother, and grandmother and a recently retired church secretary. My husband & I share a home with my elderly mother, and our daughter lives nearby. Our son, DIL, and 3 grandchildren live in another state.

Baking is my passion, and trying new bread recipes is what I call fun ;-) I have been a member of Allrecipes.com for several years but have recently found many recipes on Recipezaar. I spend way too much time looking for recipes on the internet--it has become a hobby!

I collect cookbooks, and my favorites are church cookbooks, especially those from my hometown. I also enjoy Farm Journal cookbooks, Martha Stewart's older cookbooks, and The Pastry Queen, which is my current favorite cookbook.

I live in the central part of Oklahoma, which is celebrating its Centennial this year. Last year, I entered a cooking contest for Made in Oklahoma products. I didn't win, but it was fun to experiment. I submitted a recipe for pralines, so my husband & I gained a few pounds taste testing.

When I can tear myself away from the kitchen and the computer, I enjoy gardening.

    Favorite Foods

Pies are probably my favorite food, and if I had to choose my favorite it would probably be gooseberry, followed very closely by cherry. Homemade bread, fresh from the oven with melted butter, is another favorite.

Some of my favorite local restaurants are Jimmy's Egg (for breakfast), Ted's Escondido Cafe (for Mexican), and Johnnie's Charcoal Burgers.
