    About Me

    Hi,
I never realized how much I would connect with my last name, that is until I started baking!
Actually my last name hasn't been Baker for years but that doesn't stop my husband from reminding me (especially around the holidays) I'm a born baker. :)
He and I are empty nesters now that our three daughters are grown but I still struggle cooking for only the two of us. It wasn't much of a problem while the girls lived near by bcuz hey were always happy to take the leftovers off our hands. But they all live too far from home now to make regular visits. So I need to get serious about cutting back on the amount of food I prepare. It's not fun having to watch the meals I've put so much time and effort (not to metion the $$) go down the garbage disposal a week later!
I know, I know you're wondering, "Why doesn't she freeze"? Cook once eat twice, right? Well, that's something I'm gonna work on too. I need to make sure I know the "freeze" time for certain ingredients.
Okay, that's all I guess. For now anyway. I'm looking forward to checking out all the recipes and maybe sharing a few of my own.

    Favorite Foods

I wonder if this means favorite foods to work with or favorite foods to EAT!! mmm mmm.
I love using recipes that call for a fresh fruit ingredient (of any kind) and now that I think about it I guess ANY fresh fruit could be counted among one of my favorite eating foods too. I also enjoy cooking/baking with and EATING CHOCOLATE!!
Now if I had to answer this "Favorite Foods" question on behalf of my husband, the answer would be anything BATTERED and FRIED. When I make (his all time favorite) chicken fried steak, he wants to eat the batter drippings that've fried to a crisp in the bottom of the pan and I don't mean he likes them in the gravy. He wants to eat them like potato chips!
