    About Me

    We are Christians, and are pretty self-sufficient. :)  I love to cook/make anything healthy, especially if it's ethnic/interesting/really yummy :) .  I love dabbling in all sorts of cuisine.  I love all Asian foods, caribbean, mexican/south american, middle eastern, indian, etc, etc... :)  I love savory, spicy foods. :)

    We (my family) are for health, and as such, we are totally against GMO's (genetically modified food), for a ton of reasons--among them, negative health effects, environmental stewardship, and ethical/moral reasons (esp. from a Christian standpoint), local food freedom, not voting for govt./corporate monopoly based on financial greed, (the list goes on.....) 

    (For more info on GMO's, you can visit:, or read Jeffrey Smith's "Seeds of Deception".)  (And, just FYI: GMO frankenfood is indeed in every conventional product in your grocery store in the forms of these genetically manipulated frankenfoods: soy, corn, canola, & cottonseed/rapeseed, and their chemical derivatives, hormone derivatives (the cow/milk hormones, Rbst, etc), (even vitamin derivatives)--basically, the vast majority if not everything if you shop mainstream stores/products or don't buy organic.  And no, the govt. does not label these foods as being the public science experiment that they are.)

    Aside from the GMO factor (which is huge), I really believe, that in our food economy today, that there is an overwhelming need for people to return to growing and obtaining their food locally & sustainably, for many reasons: among them, in order to actually be *able* to receive pure food, to be *able* to have a healthy life & not get cancer or some other disease, and to not have to be hooked on BigPharma drugs (not to mention, to get our food out of the hands of government and all the chemicals/GMO's/whatever makes $, that the govt. "tells" us is "healthy" (and yes, crackdowns/unwarranted restrictions on small farms for corporate/govt. greed/gain are a sad reality)), and lastly (but I'm sure there are many other reasons), if not just because prices keep going up for things & its MUCH cheaper to just grow/make your own stuff/buy from local producers. 

    That being said, I work harder & harder all the time in developing my own systems of producing, ingredient-making, trying to get everything down to a science & smooth-running system; and I love every moment of it. :)  I also homeschool/teach my kids from home. :)  It is all good, honest work that I relish; and  I take great pleasure in it and in teaching our kids about God's world/creation, the value of work, and working in all things as working unto Him. :)  

    I want to encourage everyone: As you are blessed by the wealth of tasty food & recipes out there that God has given you, PLEASE also think about what you're buying, what you are voting for with your purchases, what products you use regularly that you can make yourself out of a few simple ingredients (seriously, how hard is it to whip up some butter/flour/milk mix in place of a GMO Campbell's can... or to do this in advance & stick them in your freezer to use easily..? not to mention all the BPA in cans-but that's a whole other issue).

    And last but not least, please remember to ENJOY your food (and trust me, I have discovered, to my very pleasant surprise, that the purer it is, it's just a natural result that the better it tastes too!)--So ask God to bless it, and enjoy it!-- because God has given us the gift of food to bless our senses. :)  But please remember, that God is our real food and we need spiritual nourishment above all else... And that Jesus is our Living Water. :)  And always be grateful to God for your daily bread. :)
