    About Me

Do a lot of kayak touring along the coast and central valley of California. My favorite is the Gulfo de California. Also backpack and white water raft. Have a soft spot for abandon kittens, just picked one out of the mouth of a Doberman on July 4th. And, yes, Mija is doing just fine.

Enjoy eating out Mexican food. Lola's Mercado is my local favorite here in Santa Rosa and in Petaluma it is Lolita's Mercado. Yes, both places serve English speakers.

Love local artesian breads. In this area there is no shortage for very fine baked goods. The Artesian Bakery in Sonoma, Freestone Brick Oven Bakery in Freestone, Pinegrove Bakery and many others.
Oliver?s Market has the best cheese mongers anywhere and the product to support their expertise.

    Favorite Foods

Enjoy baking and cooking. Locally, known among the Petaluma Paddlers as the "dessert guy". Among my men friends, known on our annual cook out as the "D.O. Dude", we always return home carrying a couple of extra pound, no one is hungry. Patronize the local farmers markets. Love the local fresh. The Sacramento Farmers Market under the freeway is the best i've seen anywhere in the states. Well worth a trip during summer and early fall.

Can not beat the taste and quality of local fresh produce. Love working with them all and learning new ways to prepare and enjoy them. Often simple is best.

Local folks ask for my Oatmeal Cookie recipe.
Like the flavor of almonds and adapt many baked goods accordingly with encouragement from friends.
