    Reviewed Italian Kale

    Monday, Sep 15, 2014 on

A wonderful dish! Followed the ingredients to a "T", but didn';t add the water. We like our kale a bit chewy, and this was just perfect! The only other change was dry-toasting the pine nuts - just out of personal preference. I loved the sweetness that the raisins brought to the dish - it was an unexpected plus! Will most definitely make this...

    Reviewed Italian Rice Balls

    Monday, Sep 15, 2014 on

Oh, baby! These are sooooo good! We had these as a side with Pork Scallopine, but in the future I can see these as a most excellent appetizer. I would serve with some sort of dipping sauce, like marinara, aioli, or a pesto. I did have to add a bit of bread crumbs, because the mix was a bit gloppy and didn';t hold together well - but perhaps...

    Reviewed Beef & Chimichurri Sauce

    Sunday, Sep 14, 2014 on

This was a good chimichurri sauce and will make it again. But, will slightly reduce the vinegar, as it was a bit too much for us. We don';t eat much meat, so we just pan-fried a New York strip to rare, then thinly sliced it to share between the two of us. Made for Culinary Quest 2014."

Reviewed Llapingachos Ecuatorianos (Ecuadorean Potato-And-Cheese Patties)

    Sunday, Sep 14, 2014 on

Wow. Wonderfully easy to make and absolutely delicious! These will definitely go into our "potato rotation"! I can also see where we might want to change them up, depending on what they';re being served with. I used locally produced queso fresco - which is very mild. I think other herbs could be added to the mix with excellent results. Thanks...

    Reviewed Chilcano De Pisco

    Sunday, Sep 14, 2014 on

This was an easy and refreshing drink. Usually, I do rum and ginger (very Costa Rican) or a Gin and Ginger (Gin Buck), so using Pisco was novel. Loved it! Made for Culinary Quest 2014. Thanks for posting!"

    Reviewed Sheila's Best Balsamic Dressing

    Saturday, Sep 13, 2014 on

One more 5-star review! I';ve made many different dressings, but this is certainly the best balsamic vinaigrette I';ve ever had. Followed the instructions exactly, except for doubling the garlic (personal preference!). I can';t see a reason to try any other. Thanks so much for posting! Made for Culinary Quest 2014."

    Reviewed Green Tea Ginger Sparkler

    Friday, Sep 12, 2014 on

Another great recipe! DH looked at my "concoction" rather skeptically, but I really love the result! I';m working on my second glass with dinner. Thanks for posting! Made for CQ14."

Reviewed Ginger and Orange Sauce for Salmon, Halibut or Vegetables V L S

    Friday, Sep 12, 2014 on

I, too, only made half a recipe. I did as another reviewer suggested, and added a bit of honey and some crushed red pepper. It needed something, and this made all the difference. I used fresh orange juice and extra zest. I thought the sauce was too thick, so used quite a bit more juice to get it to a more appealing consistency."

    Reviewed Kale Chips

    Friday, Sep 12, 2014 on

We love kale and these chips were the bomb. I did add to the recipe however - since I';m not a salt lover but DH is. On half the recipe, I used a bit of garlic salt. The rest plain for me. Good and crunchy, but you have to eat them right away."

    Reviewed Fragrant Ginger-Hot Pepper Sauce

    Friday, Sep 12, 2014 on

Mmmmm! Fragrant is right!!! This is a lovely condiment. I know it';s Chinese in origin, but I can totally see throwing this over some pollo asado and rolling it into a burrito! Mexican Fusion, I guess it would be. Will also try it on chicken lettuce wraps - yum! Thanks for posting! Made for CQ14."

Reviewed Sweet Potato-Beet Hash (Melissa D'Arabian)

    Friday, Sep 12, 2014 on

This was great and I';ll make it again! I was a bit skeptical at first because the combo just didn';t seem to fit - but it melds together beautifully! I didn';t read the previous review, and may try the coconut oil next time. I';d also like to try this the next time I';m in the States, as the sweet potatoes we get here are so...

    Reviewed Red Eye Mojito

    Friday, Sep 12, 2014 on

I';m a Mojito purist, but this one I must admit is quite tasty! Getting the cherry juice was quite difficult where I live, but well worth the inconvenience. My new favorite tropical cocktail! Thanks for posting!"

Reviewed Egg & Scallion Fried Rice

    Thursday, Sep 11, 2014 on

This as a good basic fried rice, but I missed some of the flavor ingredients used in my regular recipe (pork!!!). However, I did like the technique and will be making this again with a few tweaks. Thanks for posting!"

    Reviewed Chicken Cashew

    Thursday, Sep 11, 2014 on

Very nice! The flavor was excellent, and very easy to make so long as you prep everything in advance. I did double the garlic and ginger, just for our personal preference. Will definitely make this again! Made for CQ14."

    Reviewed Kathy #4 - Ma-Po's Bean Curd W/Pork (Zwt II - Asia)

    Wednesday, Sep 10, 2014 on

Loved this recipe! I did make a few changes due to personal preference - doubled the garlic and ginger, and subbed about 3/4 teaspoons chili oil for the black bean paste (which I can';t get in this country). I also used mirin instead of the wine. Thanks for posting! Made for CQ14 Suitcase Gourmets."

Reviewed Ginger and Chile Pickled Green Beans

    Wednesday, Sep 10, 2014 on

This was such an easy recipe and looks like it will be quite delicious. I';m giving a temporary four star review because I won';t be able to taste these for a few days, while they pickle. But the brine was good, and besides, how can you go wrong with anything that has garlic, chilies, and ginger? I stayed with the recipe, but admit to ad...

    Reviewed Oven-Fried Potato Wedges

    Tuesday, Sep 9, 2014 on

This was tough to rate because I loved the fries. But I';m not much of a salt person, and these were a bit too salty for me. Next time I will reduce to 1/2 tsp salt and maybe try the yogurt option. Overall though, these were just so good and so easy to make!"

    Reviewed Garlic-Crusted Cod Fish

    Tuesday, Sep 9, 2014 on

This was an easy dish to put together. I followed Twissis'; lead and did the "shake & bake" method. My fillets were a bit thick, so it took a bit longer than stated to cook. Next time, I';ll not pile the whole amount of breading on top of the fish, as it was a bit too thick for us. Will definitely make this again!"

    Reviewed Viennese Spiced Espresso

    Monday, Sep 8, 2014 on

What a lovely cup of coffee for a rainy afternoon! I thought the spice would be a bit overwhelming, but it surely wasn';t. Had to make myself another cup... Thanks for posting! Made for CQ14."

    Reviewed Sweet Potato Buneulos

    Wednesday, Apr 30, 2014 on

Mmmmm, these are so good! They';re totally different than the bunuelos I';m used to (from Mexico), which are more like fried flour tortillas with syrup. These are more like a sweet potato fritter. So easy to make, and so tasty! I served them at first with some homemade blackberry syrup, but when I tried them simply rolled in granulated ...

    Reviewed Boreal Forest Cranberry Brownies

    Wednesday, Apr 16, 2014 on

Wow, Mike - these are amazing! I already reviewed your recipe on "the other site", but had to add it to this one too! The frosting is killer... it tastes like black forest cake, except there are no cherries in it! I ate all the leftovers with a spoon! LOL... Because we can';t find fresh or frozen cranberries here in Costa Rica, I used dri...
