Ontario, Canada
It seems as though I've been here on Zaar forever. I have made some wonderful friends over the years and have been lucky enough to meet a number of them in person.
I was born and raised in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Although I moved around a bit in my younger days, I am happy to be back and intend to stay here forever.
DH and I have a "blended family" consisting of four children, two regular-type grandchildren and three furry-type grandchildren. All the kids are in happy places, so that makes us happy. Two are married; two are still in school. They've all left the nest, so we're on our own.
DH and I both love to cook, and sometimes argue over who gets to cook dinner. I don't argue over who cleans up, I just give in and let him do it!
We have a cottage on Lake Erie and spend a great deal of time there in the summer - it's our "happy place". It's a small cottage, but so cute. It's over 100 years old now, but some of the original stained glass remains as do the pine floors. (That's our front porch in the picture above.)
My new found hobby is cake decorating. I got the bug after doing my grandson's first birthday cake a couple of years ago and haven't looked back. I feel that I need every pan, mould, book, piece of equipment etc that I can find relating to cakes. I now have an entire "cake room" in the basement with shelving and cupboards and my favourite purchase ... a stainless steel counter. Unfortunately, I only do cake decorating for fun (for family and friends), so I'll never recoup any of that money spent, but it keeps me out of trouble.
We love to cook and we love to eat. There isn't much I don't like - just blue cheese, lamb and organ meats. Yuk.
We travel a fair amount and when we get back and look at our pictures, we always notice that about 1/3 of the photos are of FOOD and/or WINE.
