I'm just me. A stay-at-home wife with a hubby (obviously), 2 dogs and a cat, all rescues (the dogs and cat, that is). I love to cook and can spend hours (days, months, years) on the internet or in used book stores looking for recipes and cookbooks. I tend to be a bit obsessive- I'm constantly seeking new recipes to try.
I do have a few "family favorites" that I make fairly often (fairly often translates to once or twice every 6 months or so). Otherwise, it's adventures in dining every night of the week. Some turn out well and are keepers, others... well, some turn out to be Frankenstein's Monster.... experiments gone bad, really, really bad.
I tend to get overly ambitious on the cooking projects, often trying 5 or 6 new, often complex, recipes at the same time. This often results in disaster. You'd think I'd learn. I don't. For a time I'll scale back to 2 or 3 new recipes per meal or rely on some old favorites, but 6 months or so later, I'm back to playing Mad Scientist in the kitchen again.
I like almost all foods. Those I don't care for, I keep trying to prepare in different ways until I find something I like. I'm really struggling with Italian sausage. I've got one recipe for it (from my ex-dh, no less!) that I really like, but I haven't found any other way I really like it yet. I keep looking for another way that will "wow" me, because now-dh does like the stuff. Sometimes I'll cook it for him and make something else for me.
I love vegetables. Dh doesn't. So I'm always looking for new ways to prepare them that he might like.
Favorite restaurant? Are you kidding? What's a restaurant? I can't remember the last time I ate at a restaurant.
Ok, that is partly my own fault. I hate to go out to eat anymore. They've banned smoking in restaurants where I live, but they still allow those screaming little rug-rats. Until they start making "over 15-only" sections in restaurants, I doubt I'll dine out much.
