    About Me

Adopted two miniature schnauzers (June 2014) from a schnauzer rescue group.  A breeder, who was going through some personal problems surrendered them to a shelter.  The are brown/cream, which is different than the type we've had in the past.  I guess it's a trendy color at the moment River, the mom is 5 years old and the sweetest little girl.  Her daughter, Sophie (10 months) is a mischievous little imp.    May 2013:  Said goodbye little furbaby, Phoebe, this May. She was a sweetie -- she had to be to put up with our other dog, Zoe, who was prima donna! Phoebe's motto: Never sleep on the floor -- find a sofa, bed, or chair--even better if you can top one of those with a pillow. She hated to have her picture taken, and this is one of our rare photos where she didn't turn her head away.

2012: I got into researching my family tree.  It wasn't by design.  I had zero interest in that type of research.  I had a small pile of papers with some limited family history that was tossed in a drawer in case I needed it someday.  Inspiration came unexpectedly when I received an email from my brother asking me if I was going to the funeral at Arlington.  I had no idea what he was talking about.  Turns out our Aunt's first husband had a brother that was MIA during the Korean War.  His remains were returned to the U.S. a few years ago, finally identified through DNA testing, and the funeral was planned for April 2012.  I spent some time googling his name, finding information about him.  One thing led to another and I the next thing I knew I was on an ancestry research site deep into researching my family tree.  I never would have imagined this would be such an enjoyable project. I planned to dabble in it just a little bit, but got hooked and I'm having a ball tracing my family's origins.

    Favorite Foods

I love just about everything -- Mexican food being my absolute favorite.  Over the years I've tried okra and lamb several times, hoping that one day I'd discover what everyone else sees in it, but it just doesn't appeal to me.
