Hi everybody! Welcome to my page and thanks to all who have tried and rated my recipes.
I grew up in Kansas and have lived in the Missouri Ozarks for over 30 years. My dear children are grown, one married, one soon to be. My DD and DSIL have blessed our family with our 1 year old granddaughter, who is the delight or our lives. Our DS will marry our almost DIL in December 2012. She is from Finland, and loves American food while appreciating and keeping her Finnish cooking roots. Both of my children are cooking fiends, DS is a trained chef and DD a wonderful and inventive cook. Cooking with both of them is a blast!
I love to cook as a hobby where I can take my time and be creative. I'm not a huge fan of the daily dinner grind and since kids are gone from the house, DH and I often graze or go out to eat during the week. I do love to entertain and my favorite recipes don't involve a long list of ingredients.
I'm very proud of my Irish heritage as a third generation Irish-American and in recent years have become interested in authentic Irish cuisine. DH and I spent two weeks in Ireland to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I am now in love with the country, people, and food of my ancestors.
I also love regional American cooking, especially Southern and New England cuisine. Good ole' Midwest stick-to-your-ribs comfort food is also a favorite of mine. Ina Garten is my hero. I love her simplicity. Paula Dean is a hoot too. I now am also interested in Finnish cooking!
I am a Nurse Practitioner in a pediatric clinic, which is the best job anyone could ever have! I love to travel, garden, and spend time at home with my dear family and friends too. We all love to enjoy good food!
I'll never judge a recipe to be less than 3 stars. It makes me feel mean! My main purpose in joining Food.com was to establish a place of safe-keeping for my recipes. Of course, now I use it for much more than that and can find just about any recipe I need. Many of my collected recipes I have tried, many I have not. I don't have a great deal of time to devise a lot of recipes from scratch but I still love to cook, I love to tweak, and I'm happy to share my collection with any and everybody. There you go!
Most! Fresh, natural foods are ideal, but there's plenty of room in my cooking for a can of mushroom soup or a slice of Velveeta to flavor up a sauce. I try to avoid pretentious food, pretentious restaurants, and pretentious people. When I travel, I want to eat what and where the locals eat.
Motto for eating: I'll try anything edible! Food is an adventure of living!
