I'm a vegetarian who makes one heck of a souvlaki - how's that for a contradiction? I love cooking, and am a huge fan of Moosewood and Molly Katzen (although that has nothing to do with my choosing the name Katzen - that's just what my German Grandma has called me all my life.) I own all of Mollie Katzen's cookbooks, and all of the Mooosewood Collective's as well - I'm a bit of a cookbook collector, with an entire bookcase dedicated to my cookbooks. Aside from cooking, I also love scuba diving, cycling, and reading.

I just relocated from Toronto to Winnipeg - I did it for love! My new family includes my boyfriend, and his three boys, 12, 16, and 17, who are with us part time, and are meat lovers and veggie haters... lets just say it will take some time to sneak in my multi-grain, veggie-loving, vegetarian faves into their lives! (And I'll need to learn to make some meat dishes, other than souvlaki!) ;)
Fresh food, garlic, fresh salsa, tofu, soup, my voodoo bruschetta, italian, greek, and mexican flavours. My minestrone... I developed it from the recipe on the back of a kidney bean can, and it's evolved many times. I swear by making your own stocks, as you can't beat the flavour - or the delicious smell wafting from the pot on a cool day!
I'm a cook/bake from scratch cook - not a fan of mixes at all - that's the way that my Mom and Grandma (on both sides) taught me!
