    About Me

    I'm a Master's degree student in Criminology and work part-time as a realtor's assistant. In addition to knitting, sewing, and a multitudes of other artistic hobbies, I love cookbooks and cooking.

    I'm always looking for new recipes that are healthy, low-fat, and full of flavour to expand my repertoire of Crohn's Disease-friendly recipes. I'm recently unable to eat beef anymore so I'm exploring alternatives using pork, poultry, and fish & seafood.

    I'm also interested in vegetarian cooking to try to avoid the over-reliance on carb-loaded foods, so it's a lot of exploring with roasted, pureed, and "softer" vegetables. There aren't any cookbooks for Crohn's patients that have more options than pasta, rice, tofu, and pureed-to-death vegetables. I hope one day to fulfill a dream of writing a balanced cookbook for people living with Crohn's that offers flavourful, simple dishes that are nutritionally balanced.

    Favorite Foods

    My go-to cooking style is Indian, often a tomato-based curry with jasmine rice cooked pilaf-style. Spicy foods with lots of ginger and chilies are my own brand of food-as-medicine since spicy foods make any inflammation happening go away.

    I also love the amazing ingredient that is Greek plain yogurt. It's a substitute for sour cream and makes a great base for dips and dressings, and tzatziki, of course. Strain in cheesecloth overnight & add a dash of smoked paprika and you have labneh. Two tablespoons of yogurt in my protein powder and I have a thick low-fat breakfast shake. I always have at least one tub of Greek yogurt in my fridge.
