Reviewed Chicken, Rice and Cabbage Soup

"This is a keeper! I had leftover cooked chicken and wondered if anyone would think to pair it with cabbage in a soup. This is the first recipe that came up in the search. I made this exactly as posted except I added carrot, onion and some leftover chick peas. You know the weird thing about this soup is that I tasted it right after I made it and..."

    Reviewed Jumbo Shrimp Parmesan

"This was SO good! The shrimp I had were huge (6 to a pound) so I wasn't sure what to do with them. Since they were twice the size of those specified in the recipe, I just butterflied them and followed the recipe as written. Wonderful baked at 450 for about 11 minutes. This is a keeper ~ WHEN we can afford these huge shrimps:)"

    Reviewed Simmered Round Steak

"Excellent flavor for a plain old round steak! We loved the sauce - it is not too sweet. I followed the recipe exactly as written, simmering covered for about two hours. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. Since there's just the two of us, I had leftovers, so the next day, I shredded the remaining meat, added back into the sauce, an..."

New Topic Pristine Grapes in Community Cafe

"Have any of you tasted the green seedless grapes named "Pristine" from Delano Farms in California? OMG ~ I am totally ruined for grapes after tasting these. They are currently selling them at our local Walmart (yeah, I know ~ shut up :D) for $1.98 per pound ~ I would have paid more. They are the most crisp, delicious things. Everyone at my offi..."

    About Me

Here I am in Kentucky, having come full circle in 53 years on this planet! Born at Fort Knox, and then spent the next 50 years in Wisconsin. It was nice there, but this place is a little bit of heaven on earth. I need to be occupied with something all the time, so I work three days a week in a small office. It is creative so I enjoy it! People seem to accept me and my Yankee accent so I am fitting in well. (They don't realize yet that I am a crazy person!).
I've been a member at Zaar for over six years now, and I can't recall life without it. You'll find me here every day, or in the kitchen, or tending to my Experimental Gardens (yup, that's my "yard"!). We have 12 acres to "play" in so I try to plant the most obnoxious, invasive, tenacious plants I can find, then just stand back and enjoy (sometimes) the results. I haven't planted any kudzu yet, but have been sorely tempted.

    Favorite Foods

I will eat anything, although I have a definite preference for crunchy, salty things. Hey, as long as I have my own teeth, I'm gonna GO for it! There will be plenty of time for bananas and tofu in my later years!
If given the chance, I would live on appetizers and soup. All you have to do is say "taste this" and I will eat it before I ask what it is. I am challenged by cooking for my DH, who has to examine and smell everything before tasting. He likes his food color-coordinated (no green allowed!).
Not a big chocolate fan and don't have much of a sweet tooth - must be the wine!
