I grew up in a big family so cooking was something I learned early. I love watching cooking shows for ideas; Jamie At Home, Top Chef, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and The Barefoot Contessa are among my favorites. I love to read, love animals and gardening, have two nephews 7 and 8 that the sun rises and sets on, and have a deep belief in the Bible. I decorate wedding cakes for friends and family. What else? I enjoy home decorating and renovating shows, history, and family. I love to laugh.
Pet peeves are: recipes with one ingredient missing, two radios on different stations playing at the same time, realizing I have once again over-extended myself which I seem to do on a regular basis.
I love to cook huge meals where I have to get up very early in the morning to start. There is something about standing in the kitchen when everyone else still sleeps, something about the simple ceremony of putting on my apron, getting out the ingredients, scrubbing and peeling and prepping, that satisfies me in a way nothing else does. Something about orchestrating a meal for the family that makes me feel unique within myself.
If only the dishes would wash themselves...
