"This turned out ok. It was very thick. I used japanese rice and brown rice mixed together. The rice didn't cook through and it was just not what I was looking for. I'm sure the mistakes were my fault. I was also trying to make a large amount, so I probably didn't add enough liquid. Maybe I'll try it again in a smaller batch and see how it tur..."

"I thought this was super easy and very tasty. I would hold off on putting the cornstarch in right away and instead make a slurry at the end and thicken to my preference. Otherwise, good. My husband liked it too. We had with rice and steamed veggies on the side."

Right now I live in Northern Virginia. I've lived in Texas, Arizona, Japan, South Carolina, California, North Carolina and now Northern Virginia. I obviously love southern cooking, Thai food, BBQ...and just about everything else. I retired after 24 years in the Marine Corps and much traveling. I get quite a few recipes from my sister (sky hostess) and have several of my mother's favorites as well.
