New Topic Recipe I created for ISO Banana Cake in Recipe Requests - General
"Thank you so much for all the replies for my quest to find a banana layer cake recipe that was similar to one my coworker makes.
I finally decided to take what I remembered about her cake and try to recreate it for my mom's birthday dinner. My family was raving about how the cake turned out, so I wanted to share it with you all.
I am not goi..."

"Excellent recipe!!! For several years, I have wanted to enter our local 4th of July Apple Pie contest. This year was the year...Or so I thought! First, I needed a recipe. :) I chose this for the pie crust and another recipe I found on another site for the filling. I spent the Sunday before the 4th making a trial pie at my parents' house. My d..."

New Topic ISO Banana Layer Cake Recipe in Recipe Requests - General
"One of my coworkers makes the best cakes. She recently brought in her popular Banana layer cake. I asked her for the recipe several times, and she was evasive saying it was from Betty Crocker.
It's a two layer banana cake with mashed bananas in the middle and a cream cheese frosting.
She vaguely described it to me one time saying she doctor..."

I was previously an elementary teacher until I got laid off due to budget cuts. Now I work for a mortgage company in accounting and human resources. While I still enjoy trying new recipes, my budget has gotten considerably smaller, and thus recently I am mostly cooking recipes that I have already made and know will turn out.
I, originally, came to this site in 2002 searching for a raisin stuffed cookie my paternal grandmother use to make for my father. She had passed away 3 months earlier and though I had her recipe, it was incomplete. I found an amazing community of chefs who were eager to help. Using their help, I was able to recreate the cookie. Since that January day in 2002, I have been hooked.
All of the recipes I have posted are beloved family recipes or recipes I have tried that I am completely smitten with.
I try to rate every recipe I try, though I do admit there have been several recipes that I have not rated. Those that fall into this category have come out so horribly that I am sure I did something wrong...but I am not willing to spend the money to repeat the recipe and thus provide a review.
When I do not like a recipe, the lowest rating I will give it is 3 stars out of 5. I do this because I know perhaps it could just be that I don't care for a particular flavor...but I don't want to discourage others from trying it. This is unless I have followed the recipe to a T and it completely failed, in which case I would rate a 1. If I give 5 stars to a recipe, it means I love it and will definitely make it again. 4 stars mean it was good, but I won't make it again.
When I am not busy in the kitchen, I love to read (historical fiction), and spend time with family and friends. I also love to travel. I have been fortunate enough to have visited 11 countries. I also lived in London for a bit.
My favorite type of food is Japanese. I love sashimi! There are few foods I will not try.
