Shared Recipe Healthy Low Carb Hot Cereal
"I was looking for a hot cereal that was both low carb and good for you. I was glad to have found one in this combination! This recipe makes enough dry cereal to fill a quart jar. An added bonus is that my children really enjoy this cereal as well and the cereal can be easily and quickly cooked in either the microwave or on the stove top."

Reviewed Oven Grilled Cheese
"I love making grilled cheese sandwiches without the time consuming grilling of them one or two at a time! When my 5 children brought their friends home for lunch, I would have been grilling sandwiches until dinner the old way! I've never tried baking them before now, as I eventually started to broil a cookie sheet full of cheese sandwiches at a tim..."

Reviewed Spicy Kielbasa Soup
"Today was the perfect, blustery and icy Fall day to try this hearty soup and it was great! The kids came in from playing out in the leaves and needed something to warm them up quick, I needed a easy dinner that everyone would enjoy and this really fit the bill! Thanks for sharing a really good soup."

Shared Recipe Mexican Rueben Tacos

Reviewed Homemade Fresh Bacon Bits
"Thanks Karen, this worked out very well and it made a lot of good quality bacon bits, saving me time in the evenings (when I don't really have any nor the extra energy while getting dinner on the table). I froze them as you suggested and can easily pour out just what we need, which helps to stretch that pound of bacon even further. My family loves ..."

I grew up just outside of Seattle, WA and love the Pacific Northwest! I have 5 wonderful children with a wide range of ages (oldest born in 1984 youngest born in 2000). I am a breeder of German Shepherd dogs (working lines), love to write, and love being with family and friends! I have spent many years learning to cook food for my family which will serve them well both in taste appeal and nutrition...not always a easy goal with so many opinions and so many ages! "This is not a restaurant!" was often heard in defense of meals and to give assurance that only one meal would be served to those sitting at the table...no catering!
I love to cook comfort foods the best. Seeing my loved ones sit down together, smiling and sharing our day, knowing that the dish set before them will be well received...that is satisfaction! Macaroni and Cheese, Eggchiladas, and home made soups are my specialties. I enjoy Italian, Oriental, and American cuisine. I love to try new dishes from other cultures or dishes that were served by our grandmothers for generations.

"This soup is quick to fix on the stove top and easier yet to fix in the slow cooker! Great flavor and chock full of vegetable. I love the okra, but when I am serving this to non-okra fans, I will substitute 2 c. of frozen peas for the okra during the last 15 minutes of cooking. I am always asked for this recipe and never have leftovers, though this..."
