    An American who's lived in Hawaii, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Copenhagen, British Columbia and was raised in Alabama.

    From necessity I've learned to make substitutions based on the local ingredients.

    Thanks to my grandmothers and my Danish mother-in-law, along with international friends, I'd call myself an eclectic cook.

    Other than the family influences I go for Julia Child and James Baldwin. I even have Peg Bracken's I Hate to Cook cookbook.

    Favorite Foods

    My family thinks my Yorkshire Pudding (also as popovers) is their favorite, an adaptation from the Joy of Cooking.

    Finding new combinations for the staples is the most fun. With a mixer, a food processor, and a bread machine, plus a good collection of herbs and spices from everywhere, it's the adventure!
