Reviewed Crock Pot Carnitas
"These were easy to throw together this morning. They were YUMMY for dinner served with whole wheat tortillas, refried beans, shredded cheddar, sour cream, and peach salsa. The liquid never thickened...maybe because I cooked them on low for 10 hours instead of high for 4-6? The only reason I'm not giving these 5 stars is that I've never had carnit..."

Reviewed Slow-Cooker Sloppy Joes
"Wow! I've never had Sloppy Joes but these were easy and GOOD! Everyone in the family loved them! The only change I made was to eliminate the celery and use 1C green pepper. Served on whole wheat potato rolls. Thanks for sharing....TOTAL keeper!"

Reviewed Great Grains Oatmeal Muffins
"I made these just as described with 2 changes....I used 1/4c applesauce and 1/4c Smart Balance oil, plus I forgot to add the vinegar to sour the organic skim (tastes MUCH better than regular skim) milk that I used. I added the 1/2c of raisins, but not the nuts. I LOVE the fiber & protein that the whole grains contribute and the texture from the s..."

Reviewed Ground Beef Stroganoff
"EXCELLENT recipe! Followed the recipe exactly except left out the tomato paste/ketchup and instead of canned mushrooms, I diced up 8 de-stemmed baby Bellas. I used Breakstone's fat-free cream cheese. Served over whole grain pasta and everyone LOVED. Will definitely be making this again. Thanks for sharing!"

Reviewed Bayou Gumbo Crock Pot
"I'm giving 5 stars with the disclaimer that I didn't try this. I made it for my husband and two kids to eat and they liked it so much there were NO leftovers! Even my SUPER-PICKY son LOVED this! The only change I made was that I added 1t of Tony Cachere's instead of the other seasonings. Oh and my roux was done in about 10 minutes total cook ti..."

Reviewed Low Fat Chicken, Corn, and Green Chile Chowder
"Made exactly per recipe except omitted celery (~blech~) & used 3 cloves of garlic. SUPER easy to put together. I used 3C chicken stock and got 7 servings at 1C each which I froze for grab'n'go lunches. The pepper gives it a nice zing. After trying it, I decided to add some salt to it (I used no-sodium chicken stock) and that definitely improve..."

I was born in NJ and came down to DC for college. After falling in love with the area, and meeting DH, we settled in northern Virginia. We have a daughter born 02/99 and a son born 04/01. We also have 2 dogs. I am a CPA and work part time for a wonderful company!
I've been cooking forever. I grew up in a large extended family who got together for ALL the holidays. Passover seders for my family routinely had more than 30 people...at a sit down dinner all home made! My favorite foods to eat involve pizza, sushi, black beans, or avacado. My favorite foods to cook are any food that BOTH kids will eat!
