    My Journal

    Reviewed Crispy Kale "Chips"

"The recipe in itself was good, not great. Some of the kale got overdone & bitter, some was still squishy, the pieces really cooked down to nothing. A couple things I changed to make my next batch better:
    1. DO NOT WASH KALE (unless it really is dirty. Most of the time pulling the stem off got rid of any dirt. Plus, your oven is going to off "

    Reviewed Baby Cereal Cookies

"Ok, flavor wise, these cookies are 5 stars. Not too sweet, but enough to tantalize your taste buds. Baby LOVED them. I gave it four stars because this recipe is not perfect. since I made a double recipe, there was enough for me and the other kid! The other changes I made were: olive oil instead of butter, more milk (about 7 Tbsp was correct, than..."

    Reviewed Saag Chicken

"Pretty good. I had to cook mine longer, until the spinach got "creamy". I also increased the spices since we like things hot and super flavorful."

    Reviewed Chicken Enchiladas...white Sauce...rich!

"The sauce is five stars: easy, totally not authentic, but still really tasty. I've made it just as directed, and a healthier version using olive oil & light sour cream. Can't tell the difference.

Put some goodies in the enchiladas themselves, like bell peppers, corn, and black beans."

    Reviewed Carb Free Cloud Bread

"These are interesting...hubs is on a low carb kick, so I figured I'd try them. There basically meringues. I think they could use some flavor, maybe either garlic powder or more artificial sweetener, depending on sweet or savory preference. Hubby enjoyed being able to eat a sandwich."

    About Me

Hi! I'm Lauren. I have a culinary degree from 2003. I worked in the industry for several years as a bakery manager, line cook, wait-person, bartender, basically did everything except stick with it long enough to have my own restaurant. I currently cook only at home, but I make anything and everything. My hubby is also a culinary graduate, so you can imagine, we eat well. We're particularly interested in Asian cuisine, and enjoy experimenting with different taste combinations.
