Shared Recipe Bobby Flay's Kentucky Ham Salad

"This salad was created by Bobby Flay who sees it as a fall salad. I think it would be terrific as a summer salad, too though you may have to substitute for the fresh figs. The combination of ingredients look outstanding and somewhat Mediterranean. Recipe appeared in People magazine."

Shared Recipe Ree Drummond's Cheeseburger Salad

"This is an adaption of a Pampered Chef recipe that's great for the coming hot weather, says Ree. She says, "It's crazy, crazy good." It's similar to a taco salad (it's made with ground meat, cheese and tomatoes on top of lettuce) but the addition of pickles and buttery croutons give it a whole new life. This recipe appears on Ree's blog; I don't..."

Shared Recipe Aunt Bee's Grapefruit Pie

"Of course, you know Aunt Bee. She lives in Mayberry, USA, the aunt of Sheriff Andy Taylor and his son Opie. this recipe comes direct from a paperback collection of Aunt Bee's favorite recipes. This will be very refreshing when the weather starts to heat up! You may use either pink or white grapefruit, but you may want to add a little sweetening..."

Shared Recipe Honey Mustard Chicken Thighs

"If you like honey mustard, this is your lucky day. Honey and mustard contribute their unique flavor to a savory dish of chicken thighs in a recipe that is simple to make. This dish is nice served with hot cooked couscous and a green salad. Recipe from Linda Larson at about.com."

Shared Recipe Robin Miller's Sugar Cookies With Pistachio Nuts and Dried Cherr

"This recipe starts with refrigerated sugar cookie dough so that half your work is done before you even start! How easy is that? You simply doctor the dough with some goodies and bake. What could be easier? The possibilities are endless if you think about it. I can envision adding cut-up dried apricots and slivered almonds. Or maybe hazelnuts ..."

Shared Recipe Crockpot Honey Mustard Ham

"You make this simple recipe for a beautiful glazed ham in your slow-cooker. Wonderful flavor in the sauce and the crockpot keeps the ham moist. (One responder declared this to be her go-to recipe for ham from now on!) This
gives you time to enjoy your company and prepare the rest of the meal. Recipe is from Linda Larson of about.com."

Shared Recipe Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

"Here's a super-easy recipe featuring almost everybody's favorite: honey mustard. This makes a flavorful sauce in which the chicken cooks (one responder called it a flavor explosion with each bite!), and it keeps the chicken moist, too. This dish is good served over rice or pasta."

Shared Recipe Mark Bittman's Roast Chicken Parts With Butter or Olive Oil (Plu

"This was given on the web as the simplest chicken recipe there is and perhaps the easiest as well. As if that isn't enough, you can change the flavoring every time you make it so you'll never get tired of it, either.
For example, you may substitute a combination of herbs for the single herb in the ingredients. Also check the variations for other..."

    About Me

I am happily retired for several years now here in Scottsdale, AZ after teaching school (special education) for a number of years. For fun I collect recipes and quotations. As my husband says, "it's all paper!" I have assembled some of my tried and true recipes into personal cookbooklets that I use for gifts for brides in the family. I enjoy organizing them this way. My favorite cookbook is a family reunion cookbook I compiled for my husband's family. I put in their treasured recipes and numerous anecdotes. I think I treasure it more for the anecdotes, to tell the truth. I also love to do plastic canvas crafting, especially of Christmas -themed subjects.

    Favorite Foods

I began cooking for my family while still in my teens. Seems like I have always
liked to cook. As to my favorite foods, I have adopted most of my husband's favorite recipes from his growing-up days: chicken and dumplin's , chicken-fried steak, American chop suey, etc. (He is a true southerner--I'm from a suburb of Chicago.) I think I have to say, now, that my most favorite recipes to cook are the quick and easy type with limited ingredients. My favorite restaurant is any one where I can sit down and get served!! I lean toward Mexican food restaurants and I used to love the Bohemian restraurants back in my old hometown Don't find too many of those in AZ, however!
