I had been cooking up a storm while unemployed. And I was loving every minute of it! I've now started my own business (homestaging) and unfortunately I don't have as much time to spend in the kitchen.
I'm in my 40's and while I had been engaged a few times, I never married until 5 years ago. I was engaged at that time when I met my future husband at the local grocery store. Obviously I broke off the engagement to the other one. LOL. DH has 2 daughters who are now 19 and 24 who I get along with wonderfully. They love to come over to play cards or Scrabble and of course, enjoy my cooking. DH was a little on the "skinny" side when I met him but has gained a little bit of weight since he started to eat my cooking. He's Italian and says I cook better Italian food than his mother. My MIL even said I cook better than her. She's diabetic so if I'm cooking for the family, I always keep her needs in mind. The dishes that gets the most "mmmm's" are my lasagna, salmon and my ultimate Triple Chocolate Cheesecake.
So far, I've only had one cooking disaster. I had spiced some chicken breasts with bbq chicken seasoning in a bottle, not knowing that it was salty. After cooking it, there was no way I could eat it. My husband bravely ate it but he kept getting up in the middle of the night to drink fluids. LMAO. The next day I threw out the bottle of chicken seasoning.
Other than cooking, I love to read. DH gave me a Kobo (ereader) for Christmas and I now read more than when I did when I bought the actual book. I read thrillers mostly. My favourite authors are James Patterson, Jonathan Kellerman, Sara Paretsky, Stephen J. Cannell and John Sandford. However, my favourite book is The Notebook. It's truly a beautiful love story and over the years, I have given that book to several friends as gifts. Read it. You won't regret it.
