    About Me

    I am a mediocre cook at best. My mom was of the opinion that she wouldn't teach me how to cook until I was about to be married. Um, that's kinda late since you're running around getting ready for the wedding! Anyway, I've really learned how to cook in the 9 years since I moved to Seattle, mostly by necessity as I was divorced from my child's father, who is a great cook. I also have had great examples in friends and have picked up recipes and tricks from them!

    Favorite Foods

    My favorite foods: I will try just about anything once! I don't eat pork, as I'm Muslim but I do buy some fabu halal beef bacon at the local butcher!

    I REALLY miss food from home, ie Tucson, Arizona. I miss the taco trucks and green corn tamales, hot flour tortillas fresh from the comal..oh my.

    I love Middle Eastern food, especially Maklooba (sometimes known as 'Upside Down') and have been able to cook it with some success. Fatayer, spinach and meat filled pies are other favorites. Other favorite cuisines are Persian, Thai and Indian cuisines and SUSHI!!

    I'll eat just about anything with fish, shrimp or scallops!

    I don't think I have a dish I'm famous for, but I DO make a mean upside down pineapple cake that I learned from my mom!
