"I needed a make-ahead dish that would use up leftover cubed roast lamb and this recipe was a fabulous source of inspiration! My lamb was made with garlic, rosemary, and red wine. I saved all the au jus, so I used it in place of the liquid, added tomato paste and reduced it.
Tastes AMAZING! Next time I won't wait to use up leftove..."
"As per another poster's "error" I put all the lemon juice in the cake batter with 1/4 cup of light sour cream (no buttermilk) - holy lemon-lovin' smokes! Baked it in a 9 x 13 glass pan (about 45 minutes) and glazed it with a lemony butter glaze - made this for a friend's 60th birthday dinner...twas a hit!
"So glad I found this recipe! Friends gave us a HUGE box of apples - DH took half for applesauce, I fixed apple butter.
Used my two 6-quart slow-cookers. Washed, cored, and chopped apples. Nine hours on LOW setting (start on High for one hour), pureed in food processor next day. Added one cup white sugar, one and a half cups brown sug..."
"Needed a quick recipe for a last-minute event - WOW! I used 1/4 cup LESS sugar, 3/4 TABLESPOON vanilla, and I rolled the 24 cookie balls (made 'em a touch larger) in the 1/4 cup of sugar saved from recipe. Since I'm at a higher elevation I baked for 11 minutes at 375 degrees.
This is a keeper!"
"HOLY COW! OR PIG! Used your method to cook off some super lean pork shoulder pieces - seasoned half and half with cajun and taco seasoning; wrapped it, crock-cooked it for 7 hours and got the JUICIEST Southwest pulled pork! Mixed in some of my homemade salsa, added extra oregano and cumin - and served it with seasoned black beans, sour cream, a..."
"Doubled this for a party --- hostess asked for Mexican dips so I added chopped jalapenos and mixed in taco blend cheese for half the parm. Also used lowfat cream cheese, mayo wth olive oil, and sour cream with no taste problems. It was a hit.
Wow...what a good recipe!"
"If I do a recipe search on Food.com and Kittencal's recipe comes up, it's a dead certainty that's my go-to....
Thanks, Kit - another winnah!"
"This cake is just exquisite...I made it up in three loaf pans and alls I can say is fruitcake don't get much better than this! It was worth every bit of effort and expense. This will be my go-to Christmas Cake from now on. Thanks so much for the recipe!"
"Greetings from Latke Heaven! These are downright celestial! Cut Yukon Golds into large chunks to grate in the processor, then used the knife blade to grind up the onion (and a clove or two of garlic). Definitely soak the potatoes in salt water - bonus: no need to salt the mixture later. And they fry up a treat! Potatoes, onions, and garlic al..."
"Bless yer Grandpa's memory! This is just a savory delight! I gilded the lily by sauteing the onion and garlic with very lean chopped bacon (about 6 oz.), using Bell's Seasoning for the thyme and sage, adding a half cup of white wine, and tossing in a diced apple (apples, onions, garlic, and potatoes all home-grown)...
This is an outrageously..."
